Bay Of Island Hockey began in 1947 when life member Phyllis Byers (known as Chippy) bought the game to life in Kaikohe. Hockey is still strong in the north and is now experiencing the wonderful game of hockey on its turf established in 2008. In 2014 Top Energy generated and funded along side FNDC the lighting project which enabled evening play and the turf was named “The Top Energy Hockey Turf”
